R&P: Mock-Ups of Poster Ideas

This was my idea for a teaser poster that would be released about 5 months before the films release. My drawing is very basic, but the actual poster would be set in an empty car park, with an out-of-focus body lying on the floor in the background. This connotes the danger/crime element within the film. The foreground image is a close up shot of the protagonist wearing a smart suit and holding a gun (use of iconography), implying he has just killed the person on the floor - telling us there will be violence and death in the film. As a teaser poster I think this could be quite effective as the information is very clear to the audience, with the only text being the title and date of release. These appear in large capital letters that are centered in the bottom third section of the poster - a similar placement like other posters I've seen.

This is my idea for the main poster that I would produce for the final product. The image can be taken at the filming, so we don't need to book the  photography studio which can save time. The main charcter has his back to us, showing a sense of mystery, and with the inconography of the gun and suit the audience will recogise danger and link it to the thriller genre. The body lies in the center, parallel to the title (which is Hunt) which is more attractive to the eye. The heirarchy of importance is first the image, then the title, the actors names, then the date. The image takes up most of the space, but the title is large in the bottom thrid of the poster which is easy to read. However, becuase all of the text is in the lower third section I would hvae to be careful not to make it too 'busy' and appear messy. The date will be in bold capitals the same colour as the title to make it stand out, whereas the actors names will most likely be a less bright colour, similar to the credits at the bottom. I like the look of this poster and think that it could work as part of the final product.

I see this idea as a early teaser poster, that would be released about 12 months before the films release. The posters background is covered in small "HUNT"'s that from far away would just look dark grey. However as you get closer you can identify them and they are a dull grey metallic colour. Surrounding the large HUNT is a spotlight - like it has 'hunted' and found the title. The spolight will cast a fading circle of light around the other words surrounding it. The large HUNT is also a bright shiny grey metallic colour that stands out. This same colour will be used for the web adress at the bottom and the 'Coming Soon'. Evaluating this poster I think that I would prefer not to have the 'Coming Soon' at the top, but instead only have the web adress at the bottom, but bigger. Perhaps this would be more intriguing for audiences, and it would also add the option for viral marketing.
